Copa Airlines
Compañía Panameña de Aviación, S.A., stylized under the name reference of Copa and known as the brand within the "Copa Airlines," is officially owned, managed, and run by the Republic of Panama. The airline is a joint member of Star Alliance and Copa Holdings, S.A. It is also the principal proprietor of Colombian airline AeroRepública with the marketing name Copa Airlines Colombia. The airlines during its heyday of operations served Domestic flights with the petite fleet comprising Douglas DC-3 aircraft. In the year 1980, the airline stopped the domestic operations and started international flights services.
The airline connects Colombia, Las Vegas, United States; Recife, Brazil; Willemstad, Curaçao, Costa Rica, Iquitos, Peru and Jamaica. In the present operational situation, Copa Airlines is flying to 81 destinations in 33 countries in North America, Central America, South America, as well as the Caribbean. Copa Airlines has a fleet of Hawker Siddeley HS 748, Boeing 737 fleet, and Lockheed L-188 Electra. Copa made a strong alliance with Continental Airlines and this led to the creation of a completely fresh brand image of Copa Airlines. It had started the OnePass frequent flyer program, later moving to MileagePlus and finally settling for ConnectMiles. The airline along with AviancaTaca has joined the Star Alliance.
